.................PAUL MURRY SURVIVING COMIC BOOK ART.................
Just like Carl Barks, Paul Murry (November 25, 1911 - August 4, 1989), the Disney artist, was employed by Western Publishing to draw comics. The trademark of Paul Murry was the long Mickey Mouse 24-pagers, which continued stories over three issues, written by Carl Fallberg.
Unfortunately, the original artwork by Paul Murry, just like Carl Barks, was routinely destroyed. From 1950 to 1984, Paul Murry drew 5,821 comic book pages. We know for certain that only around 346 pages (6%) have survived, and 99% of the surviving material is from the period 1970 to 1984. Only 3-4 pages from the 1960s have survived, and none from the 1950s period have been saved. Finding a single 1950s page would be the "holy grail" for Murry comic book pages (two comic book covers from 1954 are the only existing 1950s material to this day).
It was when Professor and collector Don Ault asked Western editor Del Connell in around 1970 if they had made the same mistake by destroying the artwork by Paul Murry, and Del replied they sadly had, that the remaining artwork from 1970 and up to 1983 was kept and saved.
The most sought-after and best original pages from the 1950s and 1960s by Murry, therefore, actually do not exist. Only a few Mickey Mouse pages by Murry from 1960 have survived. Hopefully, more pages from the early period will appear over time, but it is doubtful.
So what is left and saved is some of the 24-pager stories from 1970-1973, and actually only some parts of them. These pages are the most interesting for collectors, and though a lot of 8-pager stories from 1971-1983 have survived too, these are not considered to be the best quality of artwork by Murry.
The similarities between Carl Barks and Paul Murry regarding the surviving comic book pages are, therefore, very much the same. Both had nearly all of their best period of original artwork destroyed by Western Publishing, and both were the main artists who drew longer stories published in WDC & S+ in the individual comic figures magazines as Donald Duck, Uncle Scrooge (Carl Barks), and Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Pluto, Donald Duck (Paul Murry).
Just like the Barks index on this site, I have made a section to show the surviving original comic book pages by Paul Murry that are known to exist. The colored pages are the ones where I haven't yet seen evidence or obtained a photo of the original artwork, but most probably the whole part of the story exists. The pages displayed in black ink on cardboard are photos of the original comic book pages.
If you have any original pages - or know about pages not yet displayed on this site - please contact me at marsner.hansen@gmail.com.
Some covers from comic books have also survived, and these are shown underneath the photos of the original comic book interior pages. Just scroll down to see the original comic book pages and covers.
A special thanks go to Germund Von Wovern, Joakim Gunnarsson, Monty Bali, and Ulrich Merkll for their important contributions to making this section about the surviving comic book art by Paul Murry possible.

Only the Parts where existing pages are known to exist has been displayed.
Still all pages from the parts with some survived pages has been displayed as it would be common sense that the whole story has survived. When original pages appears over time the index will be optimized with these.
You will be able to see the survived original pages under each example of the colored published story.
